Update: Winter 2022

It’s Winter – Almost – Time for a Party

This cold wet weather feels like Winter even though the Solstice isn’t until December 21. At Camp, we’re getting into the holiday spirit inspired by the weather and by Campers arriving in their Christmas and Hannukah collars and sweaters.

For the first time since the pandemic began, we are reviving a Camp tradition – our holiday open house. It will be Thursday, December 15, from 3:00 until 6:30 in the lobby. The punch bowl will be full, and there will be savory and sweet treats. We sure hope you can join us. It’s been a long time.

Another Holiday Tradition

This one is more recent. We are continuing something we started a couple of years ago – our annual gift to Sonoma Land Trust on behalf of all the Campers at Dog Camp. If you’re not familiar with the important work these folks do, you can learn more here: https://sonomalandtrust.org/

We’re changing it up a little bit this year. For every Camper who attends Dog Camp the week of December 12, we will donate $10 per Camper to Sonoma Land Trust. We hope it’s a busy week!

Welcome Adrienne

You’ve probably met Adrienne by now, the newest full-time member of our team. We are so happy she’s here. Her experience and the strong skills she’s already demonstrated make her an important addition to the team. Here’s what Adrienne has to say by way of introducing herself, “I’m Adrienne. I am a dog mom with previous veterinary assistant experience. I enjoy my time at Sonoma Dog Camp every day simply because dogs make the world a better place! I look forward to meeting you and to giving extra love to your fur children.” And, by the way, she pronounces it “Adrian”.

Cover of book: Off-Leash Dog Play

A Great Resource

Everything we do at Camp is based on our mantra of  “safe, secure, social” - from how our building and play yards are designed to how we hire, train and staff. Every new team member, as they join the team, is asked to read (and is later quizzed on ) Off-Leash Dog Play – A Complete Guide to Safety and Fun, the book that guides how the team works with Campers. It’s an excellent resource for anyone wanting to know what “good play” looks like.

The paperback book is available online in print and as an e-book and can be ordered at Readers’ Books in Sonoma.

One of the trainers a few of our Campers have worked with recently is Belinda Head, owner of 2 Mutz Canine Good Citizens in Sonoma. We’ve seen excellent results from the work Belinda is doing – in her group classes and with individual training. See more @2mutzcanines, or contact Belinda for more information at (415) 948-7905.
