Life at Camp
Where Dogs Have Friends
Dogs need friends, too.
Not just someone to throw a ball or scratch behind their ears. Other dogs. Dogs to chase, wrestle, explore with, or simply stretch out beside for a well-earned nap.
That's the idea behind Sonoma Dog Camp.
We created Camp around a simple belief: dogs are social creatures, and there's something special about giving them the chance to enjoy one another's company.
Not just once in a while, but regularly. With dogs they know. In a place where they feel at home.
It's Their Camp. We're Just Here to Keep an Eye on Things.
At Sonoma Dog Camp, the dogs are the main attraction. To one another, that is.
Our Campers spend their days doing what dogs do best: playing, investigating interesting smells, making friends, sorting out who's up for a game, and deciding when it's time to take a break.
And while our staff are always with the Campers, watching carefully and stepping in when needed, we don't try to be the center of attention.
After all, dogs can hang out with people at home. Camp is where they get to hang out with dogs.
We think that's a pretty wonderful way to spend a day.
Familiar Faces. Wagging Tails. Real Friendships.
One of the things that makes Sonoma Dog Camp different is that our Campers are regulars.
Every dog comes at least once a week. That means the dogs get to know one another, friendships have a chance to develop, and everyone becomes familiar with the routines of Camp.
It's like having a standing date with your favorite group of friends.
Some dogs are the life of the party. Some prefer a smaller circle of companions. Some are happiest simply being part of the crowd.
We enjoy getting to know them all.
And there's nothing quite like watching two old Camp buddies greet each other in the morning.
Not Every Dog Is a Camp Dog. And That's Okay.
We want every Camper to enjoy being here, and we want Camp to be a good experience for everyone.
That's why every prospective Camper begins with a trial visit and temperament evaluation. We want to make sure our style of social daycare is a good match.
We're not trying to be everything to every dog. We're creating a community where dogs who enjoy the company of other dogs can thrive.
And once they're part of Camp, they're part of the gang.
Good People Behind the Scenes
Just because Camp is all about dogs doesn't mean the humans aren't important.
Our staff are always present, paying attention to the personalities, friendships, and ever-changing dynamics of the group.
We know when to let the dogs enjoy themselves, when someone needs a little space, and when it's time for a human to step in.
It's thoughtful, attentive supervision without making every moment about us.
The dogs get to be dogs. We make sure they can do it in a well-managed environment.
A Slumber Party with Your Best Friends
What's better than spending the day with your friends?
Getting to spend the night.
At Sonoma Dog Camp, sleepovers are a natural extension of Camp life. Our overnight guests aren't arriving at a strange place full of unfamiliar dogs. They're coming back to a place they already know, with dogs they've already made friends with.
After a full day of Camp activities, our overnight guests settle in for the evening in our comfortable, home-style sleepover area.
And yes, there's a human staying with them all night. Someone has to manage the bedtime routine, handle the occasional late-night potty break, and decide what's on television.
Good Clean Fun
A day of playing with friends can leave a dog looking—and smelling—like a dog who's had a very good time.
We're happy to help with that.
Add a bath to your Camper's day, and we'll have your dog freshened up before it's time to head home.
A Second Home. With More Dogs.
For our Campers, Sonoma Dog Camp becomes a familiar place full of familiar friends.
For their people, it means knowing their dogs aren't just passing the time while they're away. They're having a day of their own.
Playing. Socializing. Exploring. Relaxing. Belonging.
And when it's time to go home? Well, we like to think a happy, pleasantly tired dog is a pretty good advertisement for a day at Camp.
